Daily Dharma

Published week by week, you will find a quote for each day

of the year from the past and present masters of Buddhism

Let the teachings become the map,
Let the mind become the traveller,
And take the inner path to Buddhahood.

Chamtrul Rinpoche

So what is emptiness? It is simply this unfindability.

When we look for the flower among its parts, we are confronted with the abscence of such flower. That absence we are confronted with is the flower's emptiness. But then, is there no flower? Of course there is.

To seek for the core of any phenomenon is ultimately to arrive at a more subtle appreciation of its emptiness, its unfindability.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama

The more and more you listen, the more and more you hear; the more and more you hear, the deeper and deeper your understanding becomes.

Dudjom Rinpoche

In actual reality, there is no Buddha apart from the mind, and you should not seek it anywhere other than in the realization of the nature of mind.

The Ninth Karmapa

Don't bring your materialistic way of life to your Dharma practice. It doesn't work. Before meditating, check and correct your motivation. If you do this, your meditation will become much easier and more worthwhile, and your right action will bring realizations.

You don't need to be hungry for realizations, grasping, "Oh, if I do this, will I get some fantastic realizations?" You don't need expectation; realizations will come automatically. Once you've set your mind on the right path, realizations will come of their own accord.

Lama Yeshe

Of what use are your dreams?

How can you sleep, when mentally sick,

stabbed by the arrow of urge and craving.

Shakyamuni Buddha

When your realization of emptiness becomes as vast as the sky, you will gain an even greater conviction about the law of cause and effect, and you will see just how important your conduct really is. Conventional truth functions inexorably within ultimate truth.

Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche
