It’s impossible to remove every external enemy and problem in the world, but by thoroughly training our mind, it’s as if we have.
As the eighth century Indian Buddhist master, Shantideva, once said:
"Where would I find enough leather to cover the entire surface of the earth?
But with leather soles beneath my feet, it’s as if the whole world has been covered."
Despite the external enemies and problems, not one of them is greater, and is to be feared more, than our own mind.
But when our mind is thoroughly trained, it will become the greatest source of peace and happiness. Overflowing with good qualities, our heart opens, benefiting ourselves and others. Chamtrul Rinpoche will speak about how this can be achieved.
